Escuela Nacional de Cerámica
The National School of Ceramics emerged as a project to build a school for the conservation, creation, innovation, research and teaching traditional Mexican ceramics. This school will be located in the municipality of Tapalpa, Jalisco, a strategic location not only for its beauty and abundance of natural resources, with important clay banks, but for the cultural richness of the region, with a deep-rooted ceramic tradition. The Ticuz Hotel will be temporary headquarters of the ENC.
Its objective is to rescue the rich tradition of Mexican potters, to recognize the artistic value of their work and to take it into the future by training and consolidating new generations of artists, and in this way, projecting Mexico as a major producer of quality ceramics at an international level.
The urban planning of the project promotes respect for the environment and seeks to build a sustainable space that considers the vision and participation of the inhabitants of the area to incorporate them into the social, cultural and economic dynamics of the school.
